Comprehensive Blood Test /
blood work

is a medical procedure used to analyze various substances in the blood to assess an individual's health. It can help detect diseases or abnormalities in the body and assess various risk factors. The test can be divided into the following risk groups

Basic Annual Blood Checkup

This checkup includes a comprehensive set of tests to assess your overall health, such as blood analysis, blood sugar, cholesterol, kidney function, liver enzyme levels, uric acid, cancer markers, and urinalysis. It is suitable for individuals of all ages. The details of the Basic Function Checkup are as follows:

  • Urinalysis: Tests kidney function, urinary system, and detects diseases associated with urine changes.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC): Analyzes the completeness of blood, counting red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets to assess anemia risk, immune function, and blood clotting ability.
  • Blood Glucose and HbA1c: Measures blood sugar levels and tracks average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months. It can help screen for diabetes risk and monitor treatment in diabetic patients.
  • Lipid Profile: Tests blood fat levels that contribute to the risk of heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure. The test includes total cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol), LDL (bad cholesterol), and triglycerides. High triglycerides may result from lack of exercise, excess body weight, or high carbohydrate intake.
  • Uric Acid: High levels may indicate gout or certain types of kidney stones. Elevated uric acid can result from genetics or a diet high in purines, found in foods like poultry, organ meats, and certain vegetables such as cucumbers and asparagus.
  • Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and Creatinine + eGFR: Measures waste products that the body should eliminate (BUN) and assesses muscle waste products (Creatinine + eGFR) to evaluate kidney function.
  • Liver Function (AST/SGOT and ALT/SGPT): These enzymes are found in various organs, including the liver, heart, muscles, brain, pancreas, spleen, and kidneys. Abnormal levels can indicate liver damage or inflammation, often from medication or alcohol consumption.
  • Cancer Markers (AFP, CEA): Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a protein that can indicate liver cancer. Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) is a marker found in higher levels in patients with gastrointestinal cancers.

Preparation before the Test:

  • Get enough rest.
  • Fast for 8-12 hours before the test.
